History

When the provincial government announced the closure of the Shediac Hospital in 1973, a group of people worked to establish a community medical centre in Shediac to meet the needs of the population.

The Shediac Regional Medical Centre (SRMC) opened its doors on August 21, 1977, under the direction of the Board of Villa Providence. At that time it was located in downtown Shediac.

The new building was completed in June 1982.

In 1993 the SRMC became part of the Beauséjour Hospital Corporation, now Vitalité Health Network.

Mission of the Shediac Regional Medical Centre

The SRMC is a member facility of Vitalité Health Network (Beauséjour Zone). It contributes to the wellness of residents of the town of Shediac and the vicinity.

The centre contributes to health promotion and to primary health care delivery based on the needs of the population.
