Highlights of the Board of Directors’ regular public meeting

Edmundston Tuesday, October 29, 2024 - The Board of Directors of Vitalité Health Network held its regular public meeting on Monday, October 28, 2024. Here are the highlights of the meeting.

Renewal of the President and CEO's term

The Board of Directors has announced the 4-year renewal of the employment contract of Dr. France Desrosiers, President and CEO, following an annual assessment of her performance and professional development.

“Dr. Desrosiers has proven to be an essential pillar of Vitalité Health Network. Her leadership sets a standard of excellence, her contributions to the organization's major directions are outstanding.”

Report by the President and CEO

In her report to the Board of Directors, Dr. France Desrosiers, President and CEO, provided an update on the progress and achievements of recent months, including:

 

  • - The results of the Vitalité Health Network model for access to primary health care, with the integration of 17,225 orphan patients by local family health teams;
  • - Recruitment initiatives having contributed to 720 hires from July 2023 to July 2024;
  • - Efforts to optimize patient flow within hospital facilities;
  • - The achievements of surgical services, which have reduced the number of pending surgeries.

Testimonial: Rehabilitation Program

The Network has recently set up a rehabilitation program designed to help clients live independent, healthy, active and productive lives. Designed for clients of the Campbellton Community Mental Health Centre and outpatient addiction services, this program offers a variety of activities, including woodworking, sewing and craft workshops, as well as a music room, community kitchen and community garden.

At the meeting, Maxim Bujold, occupational therapist, explained how these activities enable clients to develop their skills through meaningful occupations. Program client Colette Levesque reported that her weekly involvement in managing the thrift store contributes greatly to her wellness.
Presentation of the Northwest Zone foundations

The three Northwest Zone foundations presented their contributions to improving the care offered by the Network:

 

  • Pierre-Luc Cyr, Chair of the Edmundston Regional Hospital Foundation, celebrated the 30th anniversary of the foundation, which has raised $4.9 million for 335 projects since 1994.
  • Luc Levesque, Chair of the Friends of the Grand Falls General Hospital Foundation, presented the organization's priorities: promoting the results of investments made through donations, diversifying revenues and developing community partnerships.
  • As for the Fondation Dr Romaric Boulay of the Hôtel-Dieu Saint-Joseph de Saint-Quentin, it is currently supporting a project to create a palliative care room as well as a family lounge within the facility, to provide a suitable environment for patients and their loved ones.

The Board of Directors of the Network meets at least four times a year and meetings are open to the public. The next regular public meeting will take place on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at 1223 rue Principale, Beresford.
