Important Changes During the Weekend at the Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital Emergency Department
Vitalité Health Network, Thursday, July 25, 2024 – Vitalité Health Network is informing Kent residents of an important change at the Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital Emergency Department over the weekend.
The service will be closed from Saturday, July 27 at 7:30 p.m. to Sunday, July 28 at 8:00 a.m.
This change is due to a critical shortage of medical staff.
During that period, anyone requiring emergency medical care will need to go to the closest hospital:
- Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre
- Miramichi Regional Hospital
- The Moncton Hospital
All ambulances will be rerouted to other hospitals. If you have a medical emergency, you must go to the ER of the nearest hospital or call 911.
Due to a lack of medical staff, the emergency service will be slowed down at the following times:
- Saturday, July 27, from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Sunday, July 28, 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Patients requiring non-urgent care may face longer waiting times.
If you're unsure whether your condition requires a visit to the ER, you can call the Tele-Care health line at 811.
People looking for an alternative to a visit to the ER can make an appointment with their family doctor or nurse practitioner, consult their community pharmacist, go to a walk-in clinic, contact Tele-Care (811) or go online to eVisitNB.
The Network thanks the public for their understanding and precious co-operation.
