Important changes at the Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital Emergency Department on Sunday

Vitalité Health Network, Friday, July 12, 2024 – Vitalité Health Network is informing Kent residents of an important change at the Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital Emergency Department over the weekend.

The service will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 7.30. p.m on Sunday, July 14.

This change is due to a critical shortage of nursing staff.

During that period, anyone requiring emergency medical care will need to go to the closest hospital :

  • Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre (Moncton)
  • Miramichi Regional Hospital
  • The Moncton Hospital

All ambulances will be rerouted to other hospitals. If you have a medical emergency, you must go to the ER of the nearest hospital or call 911.

If you're not sure whether your condition requires a visit to the ER, you can call the Tele-Care health line at 811.

People looking for an alternative to a visit to the ER can make an appointment with their family doctor or nurse practitioner, consult their community pharmacist, go to a walk-in clinic, contact Tele-Care (811) or go online to eVisitNB.

The Network thanks the public for their understanding and precious co-operation.
