Planet Youth Northwest: supporting youth health and well-being
The Northwest Regional Service Commission and Vitalité Health Network Public Health have partnered to launch Planet Youth Northwest, an initiative aimed at supporting youth aged 10 to 18 in the region.
With more than $500,000 in funding from the federal government, the project will create environments that foster the development, mental health and active participation of youth in their communities. The initiative includes prevention workshops in schools, information sessions for parents, youth-led community projects and inclusive after-school programs.
Planet Youth Northwest also aims to reduce substance use by providing youth more meaningful opportunities to get together, have fun, study, get involved and make positive choices.
Over the next few months, a coalition of young people and stakeholders from multiple organizations will be established to assess regional needs and guide the project’s implementation.
