Rheumatology care closer to home
The Network has expanded access to specialized rheumatology care by holding new monthly clinics at the Tracadie Hospital, the St-Joseph Community Health Centre in Dalhousie and the Lamèque Hospital and Community Health Centre.
Since May 2026, patients with autoimmune and autoinflammatory rheumatological diseases have been able to receive initial assessments and follow-up care directly in their region, without having to travel long distances.

Dr. Jean-Philip Deslauriers is leading this initiative that aims to reduce barriers to accessing health care, especially for the elderly and those for whom travel is a major challenge.
By visiting these communities once a month, the rheumatologist helps to initiate treatment earlier, better prevent disease progression and ensure better continuity of care for patients in northern New Brunswick.
