The Restigouche Hospital Centre (RHC) offers long-term and specialized services. It has a provincial mandate in the area of forensic psychiatry.
The Government of New Brunswick supports a network of 27 activity centres across the province promoting active participation by people with mental illness in the recovery process. A key element in this process involves access to activities providing social support, mutual assistance, recreation, and lobbying. The activity centres are mandated to allow people with mental illness to access such activities.
Objectives
Here are the activity centres’ objectives:
- Offer people with mental illness a place where they can meet, share ideas, and develop a sense of belonging;
- Offer people with mental illness the chance to participate in activities that can help improve their well-being and self-esteem;
- Promote community integration;
- Help people with mental illness to access community resources.
