COVID-19: Outbreak declared at Dr. Georges-L-Dumont University Hospital Centre
Moncton, Saturday, January 15, 2022 – With the growing number of COVID-19 cases and exposures within various nursing units of the facility, Vitalité Health Network is declaring an outbreak at Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre.
The facility has 11 admitted patients with COVID-19, and outbreaks in 3 nursing units. Due to the risks associated with transmission of the virus, admissions will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis depending on each patient’s condition and limited to cases where admission is required.
Visits by designated support persons
Visits by designated support persons (DSPs) are suspended until further notice, except for patients at end-of-life (palliative care and medical assistance in dying) and in obstetrics (deliveries), pediatrics and intensive care.
Appointments
Patients with appointments can report to the hospital on their scheduled day and time. The Network will contact patients whose appointments must be rescheduled.
Hospital services
Emergency Department: The emergency room is open, but people are asked to limit their visits to urgent cases.
Surgical services: Slowdown of surgeries and urgent surgeries will be prioritized.
Ambulatory care services: Slowdown of activities.
Oncology and hemodialysis services: Services continue.
Professional services (physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, audiology, nutrition, respiratory therapy, etc.): Slowdown of activities.
Medical imaging services (x-rays, scans, etc.): Slowdown of activities.
Phlebotomy (bloodwork): The Network asks patients to only come to the hospital in cases where their bloodwork cannot wait.
