The Veterans’ Unit is a 20-bed unit that provides long-term care to veterans who are not able to live independently in their home environment. The residents benefit from a wide range of services, as well as assessments for hearing and vision needs, mobility aids, etc.
In an effort to provide a home-like environment, weekly meals are prepared on the unit, and outings are planned to visit attractions and eat out. An outdoor patio allows residents to enjoy the warmer weather and participate in planting containers of vegetables and flowers. Religious services are held on a weekly basis.
Eligibility for admission to the unit is determined by Veterans Affairs Canada, in addition to coordinating health assessments and making decisions regarding admission.
Visiting hours
There are no set visiting hours or restrictions according to age or number. Friends, relatives, and family members are encouraged to visit as often as possible.
Residents are free to leave the unit with family members for short outings or overnight stays.
