Research grants of two Network clinician researchers renewed

Moncton, May 2, 2022 – The Network is proud to announce the renewal of research grants valued at nearly $700,000 of two of its clinician researchers, namely Dr. Mouna Ben Amor and Dr. Ludivine Witkowski.

“I congratulate Dr. Mouna Ben Amor, geneticist, and Dr. Ludivine Witkowski, neurologist. The renewal of these research grants is excellent news for us and an important step forward in our initiatives to develop the university and research mission of our facilities, which is a strategic priority of the Network,” explained Dr. Brigitte Sonier-Ferguson, Vice-President of University Mission of Vitalité Health Network.

Dr. Ben Amor’s research activities involve understanding the genetic mapping of the population of New Brunswick and determining the risk of being a carrier of common recessive genetic illnesses so as to estimate the prevalence of these illnesses.  Dr. Witkowski’s research program focuses on her two subspecialties, namely multiple sclerosis and demyelinating illnesses of the central nervous system as well as cognition related to early neurodegenerative illnesses. 

Dr. Ben Amor and Dr. Witkowski received their first salary grants as clinician researchers from the New Brunswick Health Research Foundation (NBHRF) in 2017. This financial support results from a partnership between the NBHRF and the Centre de formation médicale du Nouveau Brunswick that funds research activities.
