Updated masking guidelines at Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre
Vitalité Health Network, December 8, 2023 – Vitalité Health Network would like to inform the public that the requirement to wear a mask in the direct patient care environment is now in effect at Moncton's Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre.
This measure was taken in response to an increase of COVID-19 outbreaks reported within the facility, and an increase in positive cases among healthcare workers.
As of December 8, 2023, social visits are temporarily suspended in the following units due to a COVID-19 outbreak :
- General surgery unit (4A)
- Surgery unit (4E)
- Medicine unit (4C)
- Nephrology unit (4F)
Wearing masks is still strongly recommended for all visitors and patients.
We ask you and all employees to follow appropriate infection prevention and control measures to ensure the safety of all patients.
We encourage anyone planning to visit one of our facilities to check our website for updated information regarding which units are experiencing outbreaks on a given day. This information will be available on our Information regarding the temporary suspension of visits page.
We remind you that COVID-19 is still present, and it is important to follow the guidelines and recommendations in place.
We ask you to use your judgment and wear a mask if you have symptoms or have been in contact with a positive case in order to protect the most vulnerable people.
Finally, we invite you to continue to follow other prevention measures, such as frequent hand washing and physical distancing. These measures remain important to limit the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory infections.
We will remain vigilant, and in case of an increase in respiratory virus activity, we will reassess health measures to protect everyone's health. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and inform you of any significant change.
We thank you for your collaboration: together we will continue to ensure a healthy environment for everyone.
