Water damage at the Lamèque Hospital and Community Health Centre – Update

Vitalité Health Network, Thursday, June 27, 2024 – Certain services are still unavailable at the Lamèque Hospital and Community Health Centre, which was affected by significant water damage.

The Network would like to remind you that repairs are underway and will take several weeks to complete. This situation, which is beyond our control, will have an impact on the services offered at the facility over the coming weeks.

Blood tests and specimens

Phlebotomy services (blood tests and specimens) will be suspended during the repair work, and appointments will be directed to the Caraquet and Tracadie hospitals. People with a prescription for a walk-in phlebotomy service can visit one of these two hospitals now.

Walk-in clinic

During the repair work, the walk-in clinic will be closed during the week but will be open to patients on weekends and statutory holidays.
Please note that there will be no doctor at the clinic this weekend, Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30, due to unforeseen circumstances. However, the clinic will remain open and the nursing staff will be on hand to respond to the needs of the community according to their scope of expertise.

Family Medicine Unit

Please note that the Family Medicine Unit is experiencing difficulties with its telephone line. Although the teams are in the process of resolving the problem, we ask members of the public to call 506-344-2261 to reach this department.

For any emergencies, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department, i.e. the one in Caraquet or Tracadie.

The Network thanks the public for its understanding. Updates will be issued over the coming weeks to keep the community informed.
