Mural celebrating 100 years of French-language health services unveiled

Moncton, November 5, 2024 - The organizing committee for the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of French-language health services in Moncton proudly concluded its activities last night at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre (UHC). Around 50 people gathered for the unveiling of artist Yvon Gallant’s 100th anniversary work, permanently installed on the outside of the Dr. Daniel-de-Yturralde Pavilion.

For Dr. Chantal Arsenault and Gilles Beaulieu, co-chairs of the committee, the emotion was palpable. “Over all these decades, we have always felt and fostered people’s sense of commitment and belonging to our hospital, now a century-old organization that we cherish. As we celebrate the unveiling of the 100th anniversary work, we thank you for your compassion and vision," added the two co-chairs.

"Vitalité Health Network is very proud to receive this bequest, which pays tribute to health care workers and highlights the ongoing commitment of the entire community. It's a wonderful way of recognizing the people and institutions that have made the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC what it is today. Each and every one of you contributes to the achievement of our purpose, which is to foster the health of our patients and communities, today and tomorrow," said Ghislaine Arsenault, Vice-President of Communications and Engagement at Vitalité Health Network.

For James Lockyer, Chair of the Board of Directors of the CHU Dumont Foundation, the 100th anniversary work represents the Foundation's determination to contribute to the improvement of health care and services at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC.

"I would like to extend my warmest thanks to all our generous donors and partners. Whether you've been a donor for a long time or just recently, your generosity makes a huge difference in the lives of patients and their families. Without you, the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC would not be where it is today," said Mr. Lockyer.

A tribute to our past, our history and our culture, this work by Yvon Gallant will also bear witness to the medical breakthroughs and technological advances to come at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC.

In recognition of its rich tradition of support from both its staff and its past and present leaders, the CHU Dumont Foundation was delighted to present Assumption Life with an adaptation of the work inspired by the 100th anniversary mural.
