Rachel Albert, 61 years of volunteering with patients
Edmundston, November 22, 2022 – Vitalité Health Network recognized the commitment and dedication of a very special lady on Friday, November 18, 2022. The celebration was in honour of Rachel Albert who volunteered with patients for 61 years, first at the Hôtel-Dieu d’Edmundston and then at Edmundston Regional Hospital.
Dr. France Desrosiers, President and CEO of Vitalité Health Network, warmly congratulates Ms. Rachel Albert.
During a ceremony attended by her six daughters and sons-in-law, fellow volunteers, staff members and members of the Leadership Team, the volunteer lounge was officially named the Rachel-Albert Room.
Dr. France Desrosiers, President and CEO of Vitalité Health Network, was there to pay tribute to this lady with a heart of gold. “Over the years, countless patients and families have benefitted from your caring attention, kind words and comforting. Every day you provided them with unparalleled support that will never be forgotten. Despite all the hardships and challenges you have faced, your remarkable commitment never went unnoticed. Above all, your good humour, joy and dedication warmed the hearts of everyone you met, including staff.”
According to Kevin Roussel, Manager of Volunteer Services for the Northwest Zone and initiator of this dedication, over her years as a volunteer, Ms. Albert strode the corridors of the hospitals to bring comfort to the sick and support to the dying in palliative care. “Hospital staff, physicians and, of course, the team of volunteers really valued Ms. Rachel. You could always count on her to find the right words to comfort and encourage patients. She was always an example to follow for the entire team,” added Mr. Roussel.
The Vitalité Health Network volunteer program allows hundreds of people to give their time and support to patients. Anyone interested in following in Ms. Albert’s footsteps is encouraged to visit our Website for more information on the volunteer program.
