Suspension of visits extended at Chaleur Regional Hospital
Bathurst, June 10, 2016 – The suspension of visits at Chaleur regional Hospital in Bathurst has been extended for a period of 7 days. This situation is due to the presence of scabies among a number of patients and staff.
“We have two more patients with confirmed scabies infections. On account of this, we have implemented supplementary measures in order to eliminate further spread. This approach includes two treatments per patient with a 7-day interval between each treatment. This explains the duration added to the visit suspension. These measures go beyond the usual protocols, however we want to ensure the highest quality of patient care and safety”,
stated Luc Foulem, Media Advisor of Media Relations.
Units affected at Chaleur regional Hospital are:
- the 2 East Unit (Residential Care);
- the 4 East Unit (General Medicine) and;
- the 4 West Unit (Long-Term Care).
Vitalité Health Network reminds the population of the importance of respecting the suspension of visits.
