Vitalité Health Network and the Restigouche Regional Service Commission discuss health issues
Vitalité Health Network – Tuesday, March 7, 2023 – Health needs were the topic on the agenda of a meeting held March 1, 2023, in Campbellton, with the representatives from the Restigouche Regional Service Commission.
This meeting is part of a series of meetings with communities, which are intended to promote closer ties between the Network and the communities. Since health needs vary from one community to the next, community engagement is essential for the optimization of health care and services in each region.
During the meeting, the recent integration of the municipality of Kedgwick into Zone 5 was discussed. For the Network, this decision is purely administrative and in no way affects the delivery of health care and services, which is based instead on the needs of the population. Residents will continue to benefit from the same points of service in their region, whether they come from Zone 4 or 5.
A daycare project underway at Campbellton Regional Hospital, recruiting and retention efforts, and access to primary health care in the region were also discussed.
Meeting participants unanimously expressed their desire to contribute to improving the health care system. They also gave many suggestions to foster collaboration and communication (e.g., the possibility of holding a day of reflection on health care and services in Restigouche).
The Restigouche Regional Service Commission was represented by Brad Mann, President, Jean-Guy Levesque, Mayor, and Mélanie Parent (Campbellton), Normand Pelletier, Mayor, and Denis McIntyre (Heron Bay), Mario Pelletier, Mayor, and Donald Savoie (Bois-Joli), Éric Gagnon, Mayor, and Steeve Savoie (Kedgwick), Loretta Smith (Restigouche Rural District), and Betty Ann Fortin, Chief Executive Officer.
The Network was represented at the meeting by Dr. France Desrosiers, President and CEO, Patrick Parent, Assistant CEO, Strategic Execution, and Senior VP, Client Programs and Professional Services, Brigitte Sonier Ferguson, Senior VP of Performance, University Mission and Strategy, Ghislaine Arsenault, Vice-President of Communications and Engagement, Charline Morrison, Corporate Director of Engagement, Maxime Saulnier, Director of Hospital Activities, and Monique McNair, Corporate Director of Tertiary and Forensic Psychiatry.
