COVID-19 – Testing for everyone in the Restigouche
Campbellton, Thursday, May 28, 2020 – Vitalité Health Network informs the people of the Restigouche (Zone 5) that COVID-19 testing will be offered to everyone who wants it, starting tomorrow, Friday, May 29, 2020. This exceptional measure, which will be in place for a few days, is being taken in collaboration with the Department of Health and the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health for the province. The objective of this mass testing is to get the most accurate possible picture of the prevalence of the coronavirus within this community.
“We want to take all necessary measures to prevent a second wave of the pandemic. This is why we are inviting everyone in the Restigouche, with or without symptoms of COVID-19, to get tested. If the virus is present in the community, this is certainly a sure and effective method of taking appropriate measures to combat it and limit its spread,” explained Gilles Lanteigne, President and CEO of the Network.
To access this service, people must call Tele-Care 811 for an appointment. They will be directed to the Memorial Regional Civic Center in Campbellton or the Inch Arran Arena in Dalhousie.
“We hope that large numbers of people will participate in this initiative. It is time to hit the reset button and to give the Restigouche the chance to return to the yellow phase as quickly as possible,” Mr. Lanteigne concluded.
