Biobank and databases
The Regional Research Support Office (RRSO)'s Biobank and Database Unit team supports the Network’s physicians and health professionals in recruiting participants and collecting data.
The Biobank of the Dr. Georges L. Dumont University Hospital Centre is a collection of biological material and data (diagnosis, treatment, etc.). The Biobank makes biological material samples and data available to researchers for research purposes.
The databases contain information on people with certain illnesses.
Thanks to progress in understanding the human genome, the factors that cause certain illnesses or predispose to certain illnesses can be identified. Research is opening the door to new diagnostic tests and new therapies.
