Obstetrical Services at the Campbellton Regional Hospital: temporary interruption until December 23, 2019
Campbellton, Tuesday, December 3, 2019 – Vitalité Health Network is announcing that the temporary interruption of obstetrical services (delivery) at Campbellton Regional Hospital continues until Monday, December 23, 2019, at 8 a.m.
It should be recalled that deliveries are interrupted at the Campbellton Regional Hospital since November 22nd due to extreme patient overload conditions that forced Vitalité Health Network to take a series of exceptional measures to restore the normal functioning of the facility. "Things are gradually improving, but we are now facing an intermittent lack of pediatricians in the coming weeks. That is why we must continue the temporary interruption of deliveries in Campbellton," said Gilles Lanteigne, President and CEO of the Network.
As for Pediatric services, they will be temporarily interrupted December 3 to 5, 2019 and December 16 to 22, 2019. Young patients who need specialized pediatric care will be referred to the Chaleur Regional Hospital, in Bathurst.
Despite this temporary interruption, pregnant women will still be able to visit the Campbellton Regional Hospital for assessment and basic services. Pregnant women from the Restigouche region who have questions or concerns can call 506-789-5068. Nurses will be able to answer their questions or concerns.
The situation will be reassessed later in December to see if services can be restored as planned. The Network apologizes for the inconvenience caused by this situation.
