Léo-Paul Pinet holds a certificate in Association Management from the Université de Moncton (1997) and a high school diploma from École intermédiaire de Caraquet (1971). He has completed numerous courses in local economic development, leadership, personnel management, and accounting, notably at the Memramcook Institute and the New Brunswick Community College.
From 1985 to 2021, Mr. Pinet served as Executive Director of the Centre de Bénévolat de la Péninsule Acadienne, where he developed numerous programs promoting community wellness. From 2010 to 2014, he chaired the New Brunswick Economic and Social Inclusion Corporation, where he oversaw the development of the Overcoming Poverty Together plan (2014–2019) and contributed to welfare reform. In 2021-2022, he served as co-commissioner of the City of Caraquet’s commission on immigration, employment, and housing (Commission sur l’immigration, l’emploi et le logement), contributing to the development of the municipality’s housing policy.
Mr. Pinet has distinguished himself through exceptional community involvement, notably as co-founder of the Mouvement Acadien des Communautés en Santé du Nouveau-Brunswick and as a member of numerous boards, including that of the Acadian Peninsula Community Business Development Corporation. He currently serves on the advisory board of the Centre Assomption de recherche et de développement en entrepreneuriat (CARDE) at the Université de Moncton. As a recipient of the Order of Canada (2023) and the Order of
New Brunswick (2011), he is recognized for his leadership and dedication to social inclusion and community development.
