A look at Vitalité Health Network’s latest achievements
Vitalité Health Network Wednesday, Wednesday, January 15, 2025 – Vitalité Health Network released its most recent Quarterly Report to the Community today. In the last quarter, we saw notable success in recruitment and sustained efforts to improve access to primary health care and patient flow.
Local family health teams: tangible results for communities
The deployment of local family health teams, established to address the urgent need to facilitate access to primary health care, continued at the end of 2024.
This model is based on a multidisciplinary approach, where a complete team of health care professionals work together to ensure continuous patient management. By delegating certain tasks and using shared electronic medical records, these teams are able to respond faster to minor emergencies and ensure coordinated follow-up throughout the care pathway.
In recent months, six new agreements have been signed, bringing the number of local family health teams now operational across the Network to 23. A total of 146 doctors, 20 nurse practitioners and 82 other professionals have committed to the model.

These teams added an additional 20,009 patients to their patient base, bringing the total number of patients under their care to 115,375.
In December 2024, seven teams (+2 compared with the previous quarter) managed to offer regular appointments in less than five days, while thirteen teams (+4) were able to respond to minor emergencies in less than 48 hours.
Encouraging results for national and international recruitment
In 2024, 45 doctors joined the Network, while 15 left, marking a significant increase compared with the previous two years.
The organization also has a positive recruitment balance, with 645 new hires between December 2023 and November 2024, compared with 513 departures.
The nursing sector saw a marked improvement, with 307 new hires compared with 159 departures.

At the same time, the work accident rate and the number of sick leave days declined.
“As we embark on a new year, I wish us every success in our ongoing efforts to advance our health care network and drive innovation to foster the health of our patients and communities, today and tomorrow,” said Dr. France Desrosiers, President and CEO.
