Vitalité Health Network's Advanced Pharmacy Residency Program receives CPRB accreditation
Vitalité Health Network, Thursday, August 20, 2026 - Vitalité Health Network's Advanced Pharmacy Residency Program is now accredited by the Canadian Pharmacy Residency Board (CPRB). This accreditation confirms that the program meets Canadian quality standards for the training of future hospital pharmacists.
The program accepts one to two residents each year. It is the second pharmacy residency program offered in French outside of Quebec, after the program at Hôpital Montfort. Residents receive a $50,000 stipend and develop advanced hospital pharmacy skills through hands-on experience with our patients and experienced pharmacists.
Hospital pharmacists are medication experts whose clinical expertise directly contributes to the quality and safety of patient care. They assess and optimize pharmacotherapy to ensure treatments are effective, safe and tailored to patients' needs. Working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, they play a key role in therapeutic decision-making, the prevention of medication-related problems and the improvement of clinical outcomes. Their contribution is essential to the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred care.

To obtain this accreditation, independent evaluators reviewed both the program and the training environment. Their assessment confirmed that residents receive excellent supervision, that the pharmacists who mentor them are highly qualified, and that the program meets national standards. The accreditation is valid for four years.
This recognition reflects Vitalité Health Network's commitment to training the next generation of hospital pharmacists and providing high-quality care to the community.
