May is Sexual Violence Awareness Month
Sexual violence is not about sex. It's all about power and control.
Sexual violence includes any sexual act committed without a person’s free and informed consent. It can take many forms, from unwelcome gestures or comments that are sexual in nature to assaults involving physical contact.
Certain groups of people are particularly affected, including Indigenous women and girls, people with disabilities, Black women, and 2SLGBTQI+ communities.
If you or a loved one need help, support services for victims of violence are available in your region: https://www2.gnb.ca/content/dam/gnb/Departments/eco-bce/WEB-EDF/Violence/SupportServices/support-services-for-victims-of-abuse.pdf
