Fifteen New Brunswick‑trained graduates in psychiatry and family medicine celebrated in Moncton
Moncton, Monday, June 8, 2026– Two graduates of the Programme de formation spécialisée en psychiatrie and thirteen new graduates of the Programme de formation en médecine de famille francophone du Nouveau-Brunswick took the physicians’ professional oath. They received their certificates of recognition for postdoctoral studies on Friday, June 5, on the Université de Moncton campus.
Most of these new psychiatrists and family physicians, who received their training in New Brunswick in collaboration with the Université de Sherbrooke, will settle in the province.
Among the thirteen graduates of the Programme de formation en médecine de famille francophone du Nouveau-Brunswick, five will practise in Moncton, two in Dieppe, one in Bathurst, one in Tracadie, one in Champdoré, one in Grand-Bouctouche and one in the Neguac region. One of the two graduates of the Programme de formation spécialisée en psychiatrie will settle in Moncton.
“These francophone training programs in family medicine and psychiatry in New Brunswick are the main source of francophone physicians in Atlantic Canada,” said Dr. Natalie Banville, Vice-President of Medical Affairs at Vitalité Health Network.
“Our communities and our health system are deeply grateful to these young physicians who choose to serve the population and practise in our province, as well as to everyone who contributed to their training.”
The psychiatry graduates completed their training through placements at the psychiatry clinic of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre and within Horizon Health Network.
The family medicine graduates completed their clinical training in New Brunswick, at the Greater Moncton Family Medicine Unit, in collaboration with Vitalité Health Network’s health care facilities: the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, Chaleur Regional Hospital, Campbellton Regional Hospital, Edmundston Regional Hospital, Enfant-Jésus RHSJ Hospital, Tracadie-Sheila Hospital, Lamèque Hospital and Community Health Centre, as well as at the Saint-Jacques Health Centre and the Nepisiguit Medical Clinic.
