New Postnatal Clinic at Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital

Moncton, Thursday, September 10, 2026 – Vitalité Health Network will open a new postnatal clinic at Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital on September 16, providing families with timely access to specialized breastfeeding expertise after they return home.

The clinic will offer specialized services to mothers, newborns and families who are experiencing breastfeeding difficulties and need an assessment, support or follow-up tailored to their situation.

Specialized support when families need it

Returning home is an important milestone for new families. Some may encounter breastfeeding difficulties and require specialized support after their hospital stay.

The new postnatal clinic aims to strengthen continuity of care and facilitate access to specialized breastfeeding expertise when needed.

“The opening of this clinic will allow families to quickly obtain specialized support when they encounter breastfeeding difficulties. Through personalized assessments and tailored follow-up, our lactation consultants will support each parent and their baby according to their needs and breastfeeding goals,” says Chantalle Arsenault, Acting Vice-President of Mother-Child-Youth Services and Nephrology.

Julie Beaulieu, Acting Director, Mother-Child Services, emphasizes that “the postnatal clinic creates an important link between a family’s hospital stay and their return home. By providing rapid access to specialized breastfeeding expertise, it ensures continuity of care and allows parents to receive the support they need during this important transition period.”

The clinic will draw on the expertise of lactation consultants, who will support families experiencing breastfeeding difficulties.

This new clinic will structure and enhance the support services already offered, working in close partnership with the teams that support families before and after discharge from hospital.

How can families access the clinic?

The clinic will be open Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Families will be able to book appointments directly with the clinic through a self-referral process. Health care professionals will also be able to refer patients to the clinic, particularly for postnatal follow-up visits 48 to 72 hours after delivery, or as needed.
