Temporary Night Closure of the Emergency Department at Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital

Vitalité Health Network is informing the residents of Kent about a temporary change in the operating hours of the emergency department at Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital.
Starting March 3, 2025, the emergency department will be closed at night on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Patients will be admitted until 5:00 p.m., and services will resume at 8:00 a.m. the following day.
In case of a medical emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest hospital:
- Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre – Moncton
- Miramichi Regional Hospital
- The Moncton Hospital
This temporary measure is due to a shortage of medical staff and is necessary to ensure the quality and safety of the care provided.
If you are unsure whether your condition requires a visit to the emergency department, you can contact TeleCare by calling 811.
If your condition does not require immediate emergency care, several alternatives are available:
- Book an appointment with your family doctor or nurse practitioner.
- Consult your community pharmacist.
- Visit a walk-in clinic.
Vitalité Health Network is making every effort to strengthen its medical team and restore 24/7 emergency services as soon as possible.
We will keep you informed of any developments. For the latest updates, please visit our website or follow us on our official platforms.
