Temporary Slowdown at the Emergency Department of Enfant-Jésus RHSJ† Hospital in Caraquet

Caraquet, Friday, September 18, 2026 – S Over the weekend, the emergency department at Enfant-Jésus RHSJ† Hospital in Caraquet will experience a temporary slowdown each night between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m. due to a shortage of physicians.

The emergency department will remain open at all times, with medical coverage available 24 hours a day.

All patients who come to the emergency department will be assessed by a triage nurse.

Patients whose condition requires immediate care will receive the care they need. Patients with less urgent conditions should expect longer wait times during the slowdown periods.

This temporary measure will take effect on Friday, September 18, at 11 p.m. and will apply between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m. each night until Monday, September 21, at 8 a.m. Normal emergency department operations will resume Monday at 8 a.m.
