The Veterans’ Health Centre opened on April 27, 2002 and serves as a permanent home for veterans.
The health centre was designed with a warm and friendly atmosphere in mind where residents have access to both intimate and social surroundings.
A designated area for terminally-ill residents allows staff to provide the appropriate palliative care and gives families the opportunity to accompany their loved ones.
- The health centre includes two care units with 20 beds each and private and semi-private bedrooms.
- Unit 200 generally accommodates residents with physical challenges (e.g., problem walking, mobilization in a wheelchair, etc.).
- Unit 300 accommodates residents with cognitive deficits (e.g., Alzheimer’s disease).
- The Department of Veterans Affairs Canada (DVAC) is responsible for screening future admissions to the health centre.
