Vitalité Health Network is pleased to announce the opening of a new postnatal clinic that will provide clinical expertise to support parents and their baby during the first few weeks after they return home.
The clinic will offer specialized support to address various needs that may arise after birth, particularly related to breastfeeding and newborn weight gain.
Thanks to its family-centred approach, the postnatal clinic provides families with the support they need, when they need it, close to home.
Access tailored to families’ needs
The new clinic will provide families with access to specialized breastfeeding support when they need it, close to home.
International board certified lactation consultants (IBCLCs) will be able to assess situations, recommend personalized interventions, and take prompt action when difficulties arise.
The clinic will offer the following services:
- Assessment of the health and well-being of the mother and newborn within 48 to 72 hours after discharge from hospital
- Monitoring of baby's weight, feeding and growth
- Support and guidance on infant feeding
- Education and tips on newborn care and adjusting to the postpartum period
- Referral to appropriate resources and services, as needed
- Clinical follow-up based on identified needs
These services are intended for families and their newborn during the postnatal period.
Parents can schedule an appointment by contacting the clinic directly or through a referral from a physician or another health care professional.
