Pedopsychiatry (child psychiatry) for children and youth
A child or youth may need to be hospitalized in a pedopsychiatry unit to receive more sustained care. Pedopsychiatry units fully assess youth and stabilize their symptoms so they can return to their community quickly.
Family members and other important people in their lives will be invited to participate in their recovery plan.
Four regional hospitals have pedopsychiatry units. A doctor may ask for a child or youth to be hospitalized as needed..
