The Health Clinic was created to increase access to primary health care. Services are provided by two nurse practitioners.
The clinic is intended first for those with no access to a family physician, nurse practitioner or other specialist to manage their health problems. Those who do have access to a health care professional may also be referred to the clinic by him or her.
The clinic manages the screening or treatment of various conditions including:
- breast cancer and cervical cancer (Pap test);
- sexually transmitted infections;
- warts;
- ears (earwax removal).
The clinic is managed by nurse practitioners whose role is to promote and assess health, make diagnoses, and manage chronic health conditions. They also serve the Diabetes Clinic.
