Vitalité Health Network laboratory services certified to the highest international standards
Vitalité Health Network is proud to announce that its laboratory services have obtained the prestigious ISO 15189 PlusTM certification, which is recognized worldwide. This recognition testifies to the quality, precision and rigour of the Network's laboratories, which play a crucial role in the operation of many essential health care services.
Vitalité Health Network laboratories are at the heart of patient care. They directly support:
- Emergency services by providing rapid, accurate diagnoses in critical situations;
- Cancer treatments by analyzing biopsies and genetic markers for personalized therapies;
- Surgeries and specialized clinics by preparing and analyzing biological specimens;
- Molecular genetics, which is a key field for the diagnosis and treatment of complex diseases;
- Autopsies and post-mortem diagnostics, which are essential for understanding pathologies and improving medical practices.
Annie Carré, Regional Director of Laboratory Services, highlights the importance of this certification:
“The ISO 15189 PlusTM certification is much more than international recognition; it reflects the expertise and cutting-edge technology that enable our laboratories to meet the critical needs of health care. Behind every analysis is a deep commitment to safety, accuracy and patient health."
A sign of confidence and quality
With a standards book comprising over 950 requirements, this certification guarantees services that meet the highest international standards. It certifies that the analyses carried out (whether a blood test or a complex diagnosis) are reliable and accurate, and thus help medical teams provide the best possible care.
For many sectors, laboratory performance has a direct impact on the quality of care. The results they produce are the basis for clinical decisions made by health care professionals, from emergency care to cancer treatment, intensive care and specialized clinics.
In addition, the Network's four regional hospitals also received certification for “Using Labs Wisely" as part of the "Choosing Wisely" campaign.
This national collaborative project aims to reduce the number of low-value laboratory tests that strain hospital resources and sometimes expose patients to unwarranted investigations and treatments. This initiative guides our teams in optimizing investigations and treatments according to best practices.
