Vitalité Health Network Presents Its Quarterly Report
Vitalité Health Network, Monday, January 19, 2026 – Vitalité Health Network is releasing its latest quarterly report covering the months of October, November and December 2025, now available in a new online format.
The past quarter was marked by further progress in improving access to primary health care.
Vitalité Health Network now supports 30 local family health teams across its four zones. So far, 22 teams are able to provide rapid access for minor emergencies, which helps to ease pressure on hospital emergency departments. By the end of 2025, 91% of the population served by the Network was attached to a primary care provider, thanks in part to the addition of 40,489 patients.
This improved access to community-based care is having positive impacts on the Network’s emergency departments, where we are seeing a steady decline in the proportion of emergency room visits for less urgent needs.
In terms of medical recruitment, 2025 ended on a very positive note: 59 physicians were recruited over the past 12 months, resulting in a record net gain of 41 physicians.
Several initiatives were also implemented to address health system workforce needs. A scholarship program for students in Medical Radiation Technology was launched in partnership with the Collège Communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB). In addition, the Destination Restigouche event allowed students from CCNB and Université de Moncton to explore career opportunities in the region.
Other highlights of the report include:
- the creation of the New Brunswick Health Research Institute, in partnership with Université de Moncton;
- the return of ophthalmology services at Campbellton Regional Hospital;
- the implementation of a new rheumatology care offering for the Pabineau First Nation (Oinpegitjoig);
- the organization of community clinics for vulnerable populations in the Edmundston and Grand Falls regions.
