Visitor restrictions in the Medicine 2 West unit at Chaleur Regional Hospital has context menu
Monday, October 5, 2026 ‑ Vitalité Health Network wishes to notify the residents of Bathurst, the Acadian Peninsula, and the surrounding areas that an outbreak of vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE) has been reported in the Medicine 2 West unit at Chaleur Regional Hospital.
Visits will be suspended to prevent the spread of the VRE— except for designated support persons approved by the unit—until further notice. These restrictions will take effect this Monday, October 5, 2026.
This temporary measure, along with a disinfection protocol, is in place to ensure the health and safety of our patients, healthcare workers, and the community.
