In Zone 1B – Beauséjour, Zone 4 – Northwest, and Zone 6 – Acadie-Bathurst (Acadian Peninsula), the working language for all staff, including volunteers, is French. Therefore, a good command of French, both spoken and written, is necessary.
In Zone 5 – Restigouche and Zone 6 – Acadie-Bathurst (Bathurst region), the working language is both French and English.
However, regardless of the region, all patients have the right to receive services in the official language of their choice. As such, in some establishments or for certain specific roles, a good knowledge of spoken French and English is required. In these cases, it is essential that volunteers be able to understand and explain instructions clearly in order to provide quality service in both official languages.
