Volunteering
Do you have some spare time and a contagious smile? Join the Vitalité Health Network team of volunteers!
Volunteering provides an opportunity to:
- actively contribute to the well-being of the community;
- build relationships, and join a dynamic and welcoming team;
- grow as a person, develop new skills, and broaden one’s personal experience;
- get involved in a hospital environment or a community program.
Volunteering opportunities:
The services offered and the available opportunities vary from region to region. Contact Volunteer Services to enquire about specific needs.
Ambulatory patient services
Greet and direct patients upon their arrival at outpatient clinics or other hospital departments. Your assistance will help ease their stress and make their experience more pleasant.
Admitted patient services
Provide a friendly presence and social support to hospitalized patients. Your friendly visits, the mobile library, dog therapy* or your support in palliative care can greatly impact their daily lives.
Recreational activities
Lead or help lead group recreational activities, such as crafts, bingo or music. These moments allow patients to socialize, have fun and participate in enriching group activities.
Spiritual and religious care
Provide spiritual and religious support to patients and their families. Help the spiritual care worker and/or clergy member by serving communion or assisting with worship services.
Quality
Contribute to the ongoing efforts to improve the quality of services offered by encouraging patients to provide feedback through the satisfaction survey and by providing information kits to newly admitted patients.
Community
Contribute to the Network's community initiatives (e.g., at Public Health vaccination clinics, during group activities at the Community Mental Health Centre or in the Cardiac Wellness Program).
Complementary services
Make use of your knitting, sewing, crafting or administrative skills to carry out projects that will make patients' stays more pleasant.
* The volunteer and the dog must be pre-approved and registered with St. John Ambulance to participate in dog therapy within the Network.
