Memramcook joins the local family health team model
Memramcook, Thursday, February 27, 2025 – The community of Memramcook now has a local family health team, as the village's physicians have joined the Vitalité Health Network's model aimed at improving access to primary health care.
Stéphanie Roy, Corporate Director of Primary Health Care at Vitalité Health Network, recently visited Memramcook to meet the local team, led by Dr. Geneviève Côté, Dr. Mélanie Urbain, and Dr. Cédric Wybouw, as well as the village's mayor, Maxime Bourgeois, who has expressed his support for the Network's proposed model.

Stéphanie Roy, Corporate Director of Primary Health Care; Dr. Mélanie Urbain, Dr. Geneviève Côté and Dr. Cédric Wybouw, clinic physicians, Josée Poirier, registered nurse, and Maxime Bourgeois, Mayor of the Village of Memramcook.
"The physicians of Memramcook have been providing care to our community for many years, and this transition to a local family health team will allow them to optimize their way of working to better meet residents' needs. With clinic renovations planned for 2025, we are excited to see the results of these improvements and the positive impact they will have on access to primary health care in our region," said Maxime Bourgeois, Mayor of the Village of Memramcook.
"The model is based on patient care delivered by an interdisciplinary team working together, rather than by individual doctors. This approach allows certain tasks to be delegated to other professionals, improving access to services for the population," explained Ms. Roy.
As part of this strategy, three key objectives are being pursued:
- Increasing the number of individuals connected to a collaborative care team;
- Offering routine appointments within five days for non-urgent consultations;
- Providing appointments within 48 hours for minor emergencies to ensure prompt care for these situations.
Renovations to the clinic will double the number of examination rooms, making it possible to offer integrated services to the population of Memramcook. These enhancements will expand patient services by welcoming new health professionals, including, initially, a licensed practical nurse. Additionally, phlebotomy services will be added to the clinic to better serve the community.
