A New Endoscope Reprocessing Room at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre
A new endoscope reprocessing room is now operational at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre.
This essential infrastructure strengthens care safety and supports the expansion of endoscopy services in outpatient clinics.
Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the new reprocessing room enables the cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of medical devices according to rigorous standards, ensuring their safe reuse.
Each step follows strict protocols to ensure patient safety. This meticulous process reduces the risk of healthcare-associated infections and helps optimize procedure timelines.

“This infrastructure represents a $3.3-million investment that will help our team reprocess approximately 10,000 endoscopic devices each year,” explains Steve Savoie, Regional Director of Outpatient Clinics and Medical Device Reprocessing Units (MDRUs).
“With this new facility, we are not only increasing our capacity to reprocess medical devices, but above all ensuring an optimal level of safety for patients.”

The new reprocessing room is also essential to the implementation of the future endoscopy suite announced at the beginning of November. This $30-million project includes a complete redesign of the endoscopy facilities.
The number of procedure rooms will increase from seven to twelve, enabling approximately 2,500 additional digestive endoscopies to be performed each year. This expanded capacity will help reduce wait times and improve access to care.
