Vitalité Health Network Highlights Key Achievements of the Quarter
Vitalité Health Network, Monday, October 26, 2026 – Vitalité Health Network has released its latest quarterly community report, covering the period from July to September 2026. Under the theme The Strength of Our Collective Actions, the report highlights progress made in improving access to health care, strengthening teams and building closer relationships with communities.
Access to primary health care remains a priority
The Network continues to develop local family health teams to improve access to care across its four zones. At the end of the quarter, 35 local family health teams were active, including 18 offering timely access to care within 48 hours.
A total of 242,345 patients are attached to a primary care provider, representing an attachment rate of 86.9%, according to the Department of Health's new calculation method. The Network continues to work with the Department to validate and reconcile data to obtain an increasingly accurate picture of access to care.
Primary care services have also continued to expand in several communities, including Grand Falls, Caraquet, and Memramcook, through stronger teams and improved facilities.

Modernized facilities to better meet patients' needs
The modernization of hospital infrastructure is among the major achievements highlighted in the report.

At Chaleur Regional Hospital, the gradual opening of the new spaces in the west wing began in September. A total of 22 services will benefit from new facilities, designed to provide more modern, safer care environments that better meet the needs of patients and staff.
At Enfant-Jésus RHSJ† Hospital in Caraquet, a new 10-bed care unit welcomed its first patient on October 5, increasing the facility's inpatient capacity from 12 to 22 beds. This increase will help reduce admission delays from the Emergency Department and limit certain transfers to other facilities.
Encouraging recruitment results
The Network continues its efforts to attract and retain health care professionals to strengthen its teams and meet the needs of the population.

As of September 2026, the Network had recorded 824 hires, including 315 into permanent positions, of which 163 were in nursing. Since the beginning of the year, 55 physicians have also been recruited, compared to 15 departures, representing a net gain of 40 physicians.
The voluntary turnover rate stood at 4.5%.
The results of the latest employee experience survey are also encouraging: 86% of respondents would recommend the Network as an employer, compared to 81% in the previous survey.
Other achievements highlighted in the report include:
- The rollout of a new wait-time display system in all Network emergency departments to provide patients and their families with better information.
- The integration of an artificial intelligence-powered conversational assistant into the SeamlessMD platform, allowing patients to receive answers to their questions based on approved clinical resources.
- The launch of the Regional Interprofessional Mental Health and Education Program (PRISME), aimed at strengthening professional expertise and improving access to mental health care.
- An agreement with the Government of New Brunswick and the New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) to expand health care training capacity at the Dieppe campus.
- Continued Public Health initiatives with communities in Restigouche, Chaleur and the Acadian Peninsula, particularly in the areas of extreme heat adaptation and food security.
